Great Add-on for Google Forms to Eliminate Choices

So, here's the thing, I love Google Forms...for everything. But, when I have needed to eliminate possible choices on a form, I have always had to do that manually; i.e. parent/teacher conference times, class volunteer times, choices for student research projects- none of which I want duplicates of chosen by parents/students. Tackling this task manually has meant setting a notification on a form and constantly editing the form so that there are no duplicates chosen. Ugh. Seriously, who has that kind of time? Often, teacher friends who have had the same issue turned to other information gathering tools that had built-in choice elimination. I. just. can't! I love Google Forms too much!!!

Enter the Choice Eliminator Add-on. This Add-on is one that solves all the problems of manually eliminating choices on a Google Form. Check out the video below. For real guys, it is amazing!

*Note: In the video I mentioned that you have to add Choice Eliminator to every form...INCORRECT. My Chrome browser was having issues that led me to believe this to be true and it is not! You only have to install Choice Eliminator once.

Happy First Day of School!

There is no excited like back to school excited!!!

I don't know about you and your household, but ours was quite excited for today to arrive. The kids couldn't fall asleep last night out of pure anticipation and woke up super early this morning ready to go! I love the first day of school every year!

There are so many things that a new school year brings; new students, new lessons, and new technology tools!

What new technology tools did you play with this summer?

I jumped on the Periscope bandwagon. What is Periscope? Well, it is only the coolest way in the techy world to experience people and places in real time. Periscope says, "A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around." Using Twitter, you can follow others on Periscope to view live video. Whether it be for connecting socially or professional learning, Periscope is just the coolest tool! Check it out!!!

New Features to Google Classroom...FINALLY!!!

If you use Google Classroom, you already know the awesomeness that it is! However, when it was released, it was pretty bare bones from the start (which is not a bad thing). Many teachers, like myself, wished for various tools to be added to make more efficient use of Google Classroom to accommodate our busy schedules.

Well...Google heard our requests and added a couple of new features to Classroom recently. You can now Invite Teachers to co-author Classrooms. Also, you now have the ability to Save Drafts of assignments to post at a later date. I don't know about you, but I am really excited that Google is making Classroom that much easier to use!

Quick and Easy Grading with Flubaroo

Who loves to grade?...

Well, maybe I should ask the question like this...Who loves to utilize tools that make grading quick and easy? EVERYONE!!!

Enter Flubaroo! Flubaroo is an add-on tool for Google Sheets that will revolutionize your grading routine! When you use a Google Form for assessment and data collection, Flubaroo can be added to the accompanying Google Sheet to auto grade all submissions. Isn't that awesome and amazing? This simple add-on can save you a TON of time when it comes to data collection and analysis.

Check out the video below for instructions on how to add Flubaroo to your next Google Form assessment.

Long time, no blogging...

Well, it has been a long while since I blogged last. My hiatus was for a good reason though...we welcomed a beautiful baby girl in early February. While I enjoyed my time at home immensely, I am so excited to jump back into technology integration.

Since I am back at work, I want share with you an exciting opportunity for your classroom. So...

Did you know that Discovery Education offers virtual field trips??? I have loved Discovery Education for a long time, but it seems as the years pass, DE keeps getting better and better.
If you have never participated in a virtual field trip you are missing out! What better way to bring the real world into your classroom? There have been so many times that I have wanted to take my class on awesome outside-the-classroom adventures (think Ms. Frizzle and The Magic School Bus...well, not to that extreme, but you get the picture), but reality has not allowed us to do so. Virtual field trips really help fill this void and provide real world experiences that students can so greatly benefit from.
